Bathinda: Dismissed Punjab Police constable Amandeep Kaur, popularly known on social media as the “Thar Constable,” is once again making headlines after a Bathinda sessions court formally framed corruption charges against her. The court took the decision on Tuesday and fixed January 21 as the next date of hearing, when the Vigilance Bureau will begin presenting its evidence. The detailed court order is still awaited. The Vigilance Bureau had already filed a second chargesheet on November 14, clearing the way for her trial in a disproportionate assets case.
The case took another dramatic turn when Gurmit Kaur, the wife of Balwinder Singh—who was arrested with Amandeep Kaur in a drug-related case—approached the SSP office and raised serious allegations. She claimed that Amandeep Kaur had married Balwinder Singh on December 1, 2025, at a gurdwara in Bathinda using false documents, even though she herself has an ongoing court case and a maintenance dispute with him. Gurmit insisted that the affidavit submitted for the marriage was incorrect and that both Amandeep and Balwinder had misled authorities to carry out the ceremony. She demanded strict action against them, prompting the police to begin an inquiry based on her complaint.
Amandeep Kaur has remained a controversial figure since her arrest earlier this year. Known for flaunting a luxurious lifestyle on social media, she gained titles like “Thar Wali Constable” and “Instagram Queen.” She was arrested on April 2 after Bathinda Police allegedly recovered 17.71 grams of heroin from her SUV on Badal Road. She was dismissed from service the next day. On May 26, the Vigilance Bureau booked her under the Prevention of Corruption Act and began examining her income, properties, bank accounts, and loans.
With charges now framed and new allegations surfacing, the legal troubles surrounding Amandeep Kaur continue to deepen as the case moves into its next stage.
