New Delhi/Gurugram: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested an alleged most-wanted criminal linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The accused, identified as Bobby Kabootar, was apprehended from Gurugram. According to investigators, he is suspected of conducting reconnaissance (reiki) for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Police sources said Bobby was in contact with a shooter named Shah Rukh, who had initially come to carry out the killing. However, Shah Rukh allegedly backed out after noticing Moosewala’s AK-47-armed security personnel. Subsequently, the Bishnoi gang is believed to have executed the murder using shooters from Punjab and Haryana.
Officials allege that Bobby Kabootar gathered ground-level intelligence to facilitate the attack. Nearly four years after the murder, police have now managed to arrest him. Authorities said multiple murder cases are also registered against him.
The Special Cell had been searching for Bobby in connection with several cases, including the Moosewala murder. He is reportedly a resident of the Seelampur area in Delhi and had been evading arrest for the past seven years while remaining actively involved in gang activities.
Police described him as a close and trusted associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village of Mansa district, Punjab. Punjab Police have made several arrests in the case, and investigations into the broader conspiracy are ongoing.
