Amritsar: The convoy of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal met with an accident in Amritsar on Saturday, leaving several police personnel injured.

The incident occurred shortly after Badal visited flood-hit areas of Ajnala’s Gaggmahal Ramdas to meet families affected by the devastating floods in the Ravi River last month. As he was heading towards Amritsar to meet locals, multiple vehicles in his convoy collided.

According to eyewitnesses, a speeding police bus rammed into two vehicles in the cavalcade. The collision involved two Fortuner SUVs and the Thar belonging to DSP Inderjit Singh. The impact triggered the airbags in the damaged vehicles, preventing a major tragedy.

While Badal escaped unhurt, several policemen sustained injuries in the crash. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed that all injured personnel are out of danger.

The mishap briefly disrupted the movement of the convoy, but security teams managed to restore order at the site.
