AMRITSAR: Tension gripped parts of Amritsar on Friday as multiple private schools reported receiving bomb threat emails, prompting several institutions to evacuate their students and ask parents to immediately collect them.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that suspicious emails were received by schools across the city as well as in nearby rural areas. “A Gazetted Officer has been deployed at each affected school, and anti-sabotage checks are currently underway to ensure the safety of students and staff,” he said.

Authorities also stated that the Cyber Police Station is actively tracing the origin of the threat emails to identify those responsible.

Several parents rushed to school premises after receiving calls or messages from school authorities, resulting in temporary chaos outside school gates. While no explosives have been found so far, security personnel have been maintaining a heightened presence around educational institutions.

Police have urged school authorities and parents to remain calm and follow official instructions as investigations continue. They also advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information on social media to avoid unnecessary panic.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety protocols in schools, with officials promising thorough security audits and increased vigilance in the coming days.
