Chandigarh/Amritsar: In a significant development in the investigation into the blast at a BJP office in Chandigarh, Punjab Police have arrested two more suspects, deepening the probe into what appears to be a cross-border network.
The accused, identified as Navdeep and Hardeep, are residents of Tarn Taran district and were apprehended by a police team in Amritsar. Officials said both individuals are suspected to have played key roles in the conspiracy, including handling explosives and facilitating financial transactions linked to the case.
Preliminary findings suggest that the weapons recovered from the accused were smuggled into Indian territory from Pakistan using drones. Sources indicated that the consignment is believed to have arrived in Punjab in early March, raising concerns over the continued use of aerial routes for illegal arms trafficking.
Investigators are now working to establish the extent of the accused persons’ involvement, including whether they were part of a larger network operating across the border. Their alleged role in distributing funds has also come under scrutiny, with agencies examining possible financial trails.
Police officials said interrogation is underway to uncover details about their contacts and movements, as well as to determine if they had previously been involved in similar operations. Authorities are also trying to identify foreign handlers who may have coordinated the supply of weapons and instructions.
The case is being treated as highly sensitive, with multiple agencies involved in tracking the network and preventing further threats. An official statement from the police is expected soon as the investigation progresses.
