Nabha Jail: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia was released from Nabha jail on Tuesday, a day after securing bail. His release had been delayed due to the completion of mandatory legal formalities, officials said.

As Majithia stepped out of the prison premises, the atmosphere turned charged with loud slogans of “Bole So Nihal” and “Shiromani Akali Dal Zindabad.” Thousands of Akali workers and several senior party leaders gathered outside the jail to welcome him, turning the area into a show of political strength.

Supporters raised slogans pledging loyalty to Majithia and vowing to protect his ideology, while attempting to catch a glimpse of the senior leader. The crowd remained enthusiastic, with party flags and chants echoing for a prolonged period following his release.

Majithia’s release comes at a politically sensitive time in Punjab, and the large turnout of party workers is being seen as a signal of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s mobilisation capacity and continued support base.
