Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Anmol Gagan Maan, who recently withdrew her resignation from the Punjab Legislative Assembly, has been relieved of her duties in the Question and References Committee for the 2025-26 session. In her place, Rajpura MLA Neena Mittal has been nominated to the panel for the remaining term.

In another change, Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, who was earlier removed from the post of Cabinet Minister, has been appointed to a separate committee. His inclusion comes after a vacancy arose due to the passing of Tarn Taran MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal on June 27, 2025.

According to the Assembly’s official order, the changes were made under Rule 183 of the Punjab Legislative Assembly Rules in the case of Anmol Gagan Maan’s replacement, while Dhaliwal’s appointment was carried out under Rule 180(3).

Anmol Gagan Maan’s Sudden Resignation and Return

On July 19, Anmol Gagan Maan took many by surprise when she announced her decision to step away from politics via the social media platform X. In her post, she expressed a “heavy heart” and requested the Speaker to accept her resignation, while extending her best wishes to the party and expressing hope that the Punjab government would meet public expectations.

Her resignation sparked speculation across political circles. However, the very next day, AAP Punjab president Aman Arora visited her residence and reportedly persuaded her to reconsider. Following discussions, Mann decided to withdraw her resignation, but the committee reshuffle proceeded as per the Speaker’s decision.

These changes mark the latest adjustments in the Assembly’s committee structures as the state heads into a busy legislative season.
