Amritsar: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a Pakistan-backed international arms smuggling network and arrested six individuals, including one minor. Officers recovered six modern pistols during the operation—five 30-bore weapons and one PX5 9mm pistol.

Initial investigation revealed that the accused were directly in touch with a handler based in Pakistan. The handler reportedly used social media platforms to send instructions, coordinates, and delivery details for arms consignments. Police said the module supplied these weapons to criminals operating in the Majha and Doaba regions for planned unlawful activities.

A case has been registered under the Arms Act at the Cantonment police station, and further investigation is underway. Police teams are now tracing the recipients of the weapons, financial links, routes of communication, and the full extent of the network.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said the operation reflects the state’s firm resolve to combat cross-border arms smuggling. He stated that Amritsar Police acted swiftly on intelligence inputs and successfully neutralized a module with Pakistani links.

Yadav added that the interrogation of the arrested accused is expected to yield crucial information that could help curb illegal arms supply and associated crimes in Majha and Doaba. He also urged citizens to report any suspicious activity immediately so that potential threats can be intercepted in time.
