Mohali (Punjab): The counting of votes for the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections in Mohali district has begun to reveal clear trends, with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) putting up an impressive show in Majri Block, winning the bulk of the declared zones. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to secure a lone victory in the block.

Early results indicate a largely one-sided contest in Majri, where SAD candidates dominated across multiple zones, leaving little room for rivals to gain ground.

In Zone 3, Mirzapur, SAD candidate Bimla was declared elected. The party continued its winning streak in Zone 4, Manakpur Sharif, where Yadwinder Singh registered a victory. Zone 5, Majri, also went in favour of SAD, with Rulda Ram emerging as the winner.

The party further consolidated its lead by winning Zone 6, Jhande Majra, where Rupinder Kaur secured the seat. In Zone 7, Brodi, Gurpreet Singh ensured another win for the Akali Dal, while Jasveer Kaur clinched victory in Zone 8, Neholka, adding to the party’s tally.

The Aam Aadmi Party marked its presence in Majri Block through Zone 9, Jingra Kalan, where Kulveer Kaur emerged victorious, preventing a clean sweep by the Akali Dal.

As counting continues in other parts of the district, the Majri results signal a strong showing by the Shiromani Akali Dal in the local body elections, setting the tone for the remaining outcomes.
