Harike: Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Garhgaj has announced that a special commemorative congregation will be organized on July 14, 2026, on the banks of the Sutlej River at Harike Pattan. The event will feature collective prayers for the eternal peace of the innocent youths killed during past police atrocities in Punjab, whose illegal cremations and disappearances were famously unearthed by martyr Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra, as well as to seek justice for the grieving families.
The Jathedar emphasized that despite decades passing, no major collective prayer has been held for the eternal peace of the innocent youth, women, elders, and children who fell victim to state and police excesses. He noted that countless mothers and sisters remain unaware of the exact fate of their sons and brothers. Highlighting the historical necessity of the event, Giani Kuldip Singh Garhgaj stated that it is high time the truth of what transpired in Punjab is brought before the global community to ensure the victimized families finally receive justice.
A warm and open invitation has been extended by the Jathedar to all affected families, human rights activists, lawyers, and organizations fighting for justice across the region. The invitation specifically calls upon those who suffered state atrocities during and after the 1984 era, whose causes were championed by Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra throughout his lifetime.
Furthermore, the Jathedar requested the presence of those families whose cases recently saw convictions of guilty police officials by the CBI court in Mohali. He urged the entire Sikh community and justice-seeking individuals to assemble on the riverbanks to perform collective Gurbani recitation, Kirtan, and Ardas for the departed souls, praying for the divine strength of the families to continue their pursuit of justice.
