New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 on Master Sharvan Singh, a 10-year-old boy from Punjab’s Ferozepur district, in recognition of his exceptional courage and selfless service during Operation Sindoor earlier this year.

The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhavan in the national capital, where the young achiever from the border village of Chak Taran Wali was honoured for his remarkable contribution in support of Indian Army personnel deployed along the India-Pakistan border.

According to officials, Sharvan Singh displayed extraordinary presence of mind and patriotism during heightened tensions in May 2025. Amid repeated drone intrusions and a volatile security situation, the child regularly travelled to forward posts to supply soldiers with essential items such as water, milk, lassi, tea and ice.

Despite constant surveillance and the risk of enemy fire, Sharvan continued his efforts without fear, providing crucial logistical support and boosting the morale of troops stationed in difficult conditions. His actions, carried out under direct threat, became a vital support system for soldiers enduring prolonged deployment.

Sharvan Singh had earlier been recognised by the Indian Army for his bravery and is currently receiving educational support facilitated by the forces. Thursday’s national honour further acknowledged his courage, resilience and unwavering sense of duty at such a young age.

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is India’s highest civilian award for children and is given annually to recognise exceptional achievements by individuals below the age of 18 in fields including bravery, service, innovation and social impact.
