Sri Anandpur Sahib: A special mock session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha will take place today, providing students with a unique opportunity to experience the workings of the state legislature firsthand. The initiative has been led by Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who emphasized the importance of combining education with practical learning about democracy.
In the session, Harkamaldeep Singh will assume the role of Chief Minister, while other students will take on positions such as Speaker, Ministers, MLAs, and members of the Opposition. The exercise aims to give young learners a practical understanding of governance, decision-making, and legislative procedures.
This year’s student mock session is being held at the temporary Punjab Vidhan Sabha in Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 26, coinciding with Constitution Day. The event also commemorates the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
Speaking about the initiative, Speaker Sandhwan highlighted the transformative potential of education that goes beyond textbooks. “When a government commits not just to educating children but also to teaching them how to live, education becomes a transformative force. This revolution has taken shape on the soil of Punjab,” he said.
Students from government schools across the state have been selected for the session, which seeks to bridge classroom learning with practical democratic experience. Sandhwan extended his best wishes to all participating students, teachers, school staff, and parents attending the historic session.
