Bahadurgarh: Two alleged members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, wanted in connection with the murder of a gym owner in Haryana’s Hansi, were killed during a police encounter in Bahadurgarh early Sunday morning. The operation was carried out jointly by teams from the Haryana Police and Delhi Police following a tip-off about the suspects’ movements.
According to officials, the deceased have been identified as Pravesh, a resident of Tibba Danasher, and Himanshu, who hailed from Jakhod Khera village in Hisar district. Both men carried a reward of ₹1 lakh each and were among the key accused in the June 11 killing of gym operator Kapil.
Police said intelligence inputs suggested the duo had reached Bahadurgarh with plans to carry out another criminal act. Acting on the information, a joint police team moved to intercept them. However, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the officers, prompting the police to retaliate.
During the exchange of gunfire, one police constable sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Officials said four other personnel escaped unharmed because the bullets struck their bulletproof jackets.
Both accused suffered gunshot injuries during the encounter and were immediately shifted to a nearby trauma centre. Doctors later declared them dead on arrival.
The injured constable is currently receiving treatment at a higher medical facility and is reported to be under medical supervision.
Police have stated that the encounter forms part of an ongoing crackdown on organised crime networks operating in the region. Further investigation into the incident has been handed over to senior police officials to establish additional links related to the case and any other criminal activities involving the accused.
