Chandigarh: A Mahapanchayat held at Guru Ravidas Bhavan, Sector 20, Chandigarh on Sunday demanded justice for IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who recently died by suicide.
Organizers of the event announced that all sanitation workers in Chandigarh would halt work from Monday in protest against the alleged inaction in the case. The gathering drew members from various Dalit communities, who voiced strong criticism of the Haryana government and called for immediate measures to protect Dalit rights.
The Mahapanchayat underscored growing public anger over delays in holding the accused accountable and demanded swift, transparent action against those allegedly responsible for the harassment of Y Puran Kumar.
