New Delhi: In the wake of the recent question paper leak controversy surrounding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced a fresh examination date for NEET (UG) 2026.
As per the notification issued with the approval of the Government of India, the re-examination will be conducted across the country on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
The decision comes after concerns were raised over the integrity of the earlier examination following allegations of a paper leak, which sparked anxiety among lakhs of medical aspirants and their families. The move is aimed at ensuring fairness and restoring confidence in one of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations.
The NTA has urged candidates and their parents to stay alert and rely solely on official communication channels for updates related to admit cards, examination centres and other important instructions. Officials also cautioned students against misinformation being circulated through social media and unofficial platforms.
The agency said detailed guidelines regarding the re-exam process, reporting time and revised admit card release will be shared shortly through its official website.
The NEET-UG examination serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India, and any disruption in its conduct affects lakhs of aspirants competing for limited seats in medical and dental colleges.
Authorities have assured students that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the re-examination is conducted in a transparent and secure manner. Security protocols are expected to be strengthened to prevent any recurrence of malpractice.
The announcement has brought clarity for students who had been waiting for confirmation of the revised schedule, allowing them to refocus their preparation for the upcoming test.
