Chandigarh: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij described Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar’s act of saving the lives of 174 passengers despite being injured as a matter of pride for every Indian. He said that instead of taking credit himself, Captain Smit Machchhar attributed the achievement to “Indian culture.”
Speaking to media persons today, Energy Minister Anil Vij said that the Captain had averted a mid-air crash. He said that what was even more significant was that despite accomplishing such a remarkable feat, he did not take the credit himself but attributed it to Indian culture. “I believe in Indian culture, and this is a very significant thing. It is a matter of pride for every Indian and something that makes every Indian hold their head high,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that Captain Smit Machchhar was the pilot of a flydubai flight, and his co-pilot allegedly attacked him with a knife while the aircraft was in flight, injuring him. Despite being injured, the Captain managed to save the lives of all 174 passengers on board.
