Jaipur: A devastating road accident on the Jaipur-Sikar National Highway claimed three lives and left several others injured after an SUV lost control and rammed into a roadside restaurant in Rajasthan’s Chomu area on Wednesday morning.
According to police officials, the SUV first collided with a truck while travelling along the highway. The impact reportedly caused the vehicle to veer off the road before crashing directly into a restaurant situated near the local stadium area.
The collision created panic in the vicinity as the speeding SUV smashed through the roadside establishment, also damaging a parked car outside the eatery.
Authorities said there were 12 people travelling in the SUV at the time of the accident. Two women and one man died in the incident, while nine others sustained injuries of varying severity.
Local residents and emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after the crash and helped rescue those trapped inside the damaged vehicle. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police officials stated that the bodies of the deceased were sent to the mortuary at the government hospital in Chomu for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation suggests the SUV lost balance after the collision with the truck, though officials are still examining the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
Traffic movement on the highway was briefly affected following the crash as police teams cleared the damaged vehicles and secured the area. Authorities have launched further investigation into the incident.
