Kathmandu: India has stepped up its humanitarian assistance to flood-affected Nepal, handing over 10 tonnes of relief material as the neighbouring country continues to deal with the aftermath of devastating floods.

The Embassy of India in Nepal said Ambassador Naveen Srivastava formally handed over the consignment to Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadka Raj Poudel.

Sharing details of the assistance, the Indian Embassy posted on X, “Always with Nepal,” reaffirming New Delhi’s support for its close neighbour during the crisis.

The aid is expected to strengthen ongoing relief and humanitarian operations in areas affected by the floods. The assistance comes as Nepal works to provide support to communities impacted by flooding and related damage.

The Indian Embassy said the latest contribution reflects India’s commitment to extending assistance to Nepal during times of need.

“India stands firmly with Nepal and is committed to providing all possible support,” the embassy said in its message.

India and Nepal share close historical, cultural and people-to-people ties, with the two countries frequently cooperating during natural disasters and other emergencies.

The latest humanitarian assistance further underlines India’s approach of extending immediate support to Nepal in the wake of natural calamities, particularly when communities require relief supplies and essential assistance.
