Doda: Fresh heavy rainfall has once again lashed the Bhalesa region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, triggering flash floods and swelling rivers, streams and seasonal nallahs. The downpour has caused widespread damage to residential properties, standing crops and agricultural land, raising fresh concerns over safety in vulnerable areas.

Continuous rain has intensified water flow in several water bodies, with overflowing streams inundating nearby fields and damaging infrastructure in low-lying villages. Residents reported that agricultural land has suffered significant erosion, while a number of houses have also been affected by floodwaters and debris.

The latest spell of adverse weather comes amid an ongoing series of natural disasters across the hilly region, where incidents of flash floods, cloudbursts and landslides have repeatedly disrupted normal life over the past several days.

In view of the prevailing conditions, the district administrations of Doda and neighbouring Kishtwar have appealed to people to remain alert and avoid travelling to high-altitude areas, riverbanks and locations prone to landslides until weather conditions stabilise.

Officials have advised residents to strictly follow safety instructions issued by the administration and avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable zones, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.

Emergency teams are closely monitoring the situation, while local authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage. The administration has assured that necessary assistance will be provided to affected families and that efforts are underway to restore normalcy wherever possible.

With forecasts indicating the possibility of more rain, authorities have urged citizens to stay updated through official weather advisories and cooperate with rescue and disaster management agencies if evacuation becomes necessary.
