Manali: A recent spell of snowfall has breathed new life into Manali, drawing tourists back and revitalising the local economy after weeks of dry weather.

The picturesque town, along with parts of Lahaul and Spiti, witnessed fresh snow that has quickly transformed the region into a bustling tourist hub once again. Authorities report a steady influx of visitors, with around 1,000 vehicles and dozens of buses entering Manali daily.

The impact is clearly visible across the hospitality sector. Hotel occupancy, which had dipped significantly in recent weeks, has now improved to around 50–60 per cent. With advance bookings on the rise, business owners are optimistic that the momentum will continue in the coming days.

Adventure tourism has also made a strong comeback. Activities such as skiing, snow scooter rides and other winter sports have resumed, attracting both thrill-seekers and casual travellers. Local markets, which had slowed during the dry spell, are once again witnessing increased footfall.

Tourists arriving in the hill station have been greeted with fresh snowfall and scenic views, enhancing their overall experience. Many visitors described the timing of their trips as ideal, allowing them to enjoy winter landscapes without overwhelming crowds.

However, the snowfall has not been without challenges. Traffic congestion has been reported near the Atal Tunnel, where heavy snow accumulation caused delays and long queues of vehicles. Authorities have urged travellers to remain cautious due to unpredictable mountain conditions.

Beyond tourism, the snowfall has brought relief to farmers, particularly apple growers who rely on adequate winter chill for better crop yields. Experts say the fresh snow could improve orchard health and support a more productive harvest season.

With its snow-covered vistas and renewed activity, Manali is once again living up to its reputation as one of northern India’s most sought-after winter destinations.
