Jalandhar: In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested four alleged members of a criminal syndicate believed to be operating under the guidance of handlers based abroad. The operation also led to the seizure of three sophisticated pistols along with live ammunition.
According to preliminary findings, the accused were allegedly involved in planning and carrying out extortion-related activities and firing incidents across Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar districts. Investigators suspect that the group was acting on instructions received from foreign-based operatives, highlighting the growing nexus between overseas criminal elements and local networks.
Police officials stated that a case has been registered at Bhargo Camp Police Station under relevant sections of law. The investigation is now focused on tracing the financial and communication channels of the syndicate, identifying its remaining members, and uncovering the larger conspiracy behind the attacks.
Authorities believe the arrests could provide crucial leads into cross-border criminal operations that have been attempting to spread fear through targeted violence and extortion. Digital evidence and forensic analysis of the recovered weapons are also being examined to establish links with previous incidents reported in the region.
Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to taking firm action against organized crime and dismantling networks operating with foreign support. Officials said sustained intelligence-based operations would continue to ensure public safety and maintain law and order across the state.
