New Delhi: The Delhi Police have characterized a recent protest by the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) at the India AI Impact Summit as a premeditated and aggressive attempt to compromise high-level security. According to Special Commissioner of Police (PMMC) Devesh Srivastva, several individuals attempted to disrupt the summit by breaching the established security cordon. While security personnel successfully overpowered the agitators, the confrontation resulted in injuries to several on-duty police officers.
Following the incident, an intensive investigation was launched involving the scrutiny of CCTV footage from the venue and surrounding areas. This digital evidence allowed authorities to identify multiple suspects and uncover a network of individuals who allegedly provided logistical support to the primary accused. To date, eight individuals have been taken into custody, including several high-ranking office-bearers of the IYC.
Among those apprehended is Uday Bhanu Chib, the president of the Indian Youth Congress. Following his arrest, Chib and the other suspects were placed in police remand for interrogation. Investigators are currently conducting coordinated raids across multiple states to trace remaining suspects and dismantle what they describe as a broad conspiracy behind the security breach.
The legal proceedings began with an FIR registered at the Tilak Marg police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to criminal conspiracy and obstructing public servants. As more evidence surfaced, authorities added Sections 191(1) and 192 to the case. Due to the multi-state nature of the support network and the complexity of the ongoing probe, the case has been officially transferred to the Crime Branch Inter-State Cell for further investigation.
