New Delhi: Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the youth-led pressure group Cockroach Janta Party, announced on Friday that he is travelling to India ahead of a planned protest in the national capital demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Sharing an update on social media platform X, Dipke, who is currently based in Boston, said he was on his way to India and expressed confidence in the country’s constitutional framework. “On my way to India… Leaving my fate in the hands of the Constitution,” he wrote.

Dipke is expected to arrive in New Delhi on Saturday morning. Following his arrival, he is scheduled to join a delegation of activists, including noted environmentalist and education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk, to approach the Parliament Street police station for the necessary permissions to hold a peaceful demonstration.

The proposed sit-in is set to take place at Jantar Mantar, a designated protest site in the heart of the capital. Organisers have described the event as a non-violent public gathering aimed at raising concerns over issues related to the education sector.

The movement formally introduced itself to the public earlier this week during its first press conference at the Constitution Club near Parliament. Speaking on behalf of the organisation, chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the protest would remain open to participants from across the political spectrum, emphasising that individuals with differing ideological backgrounds were welcome to join.

Dipke, who briefly worked with the Aam Aadmi Party before moving to the United States to pursue studies in public relations, has emerged as the face of the campaign. The group says its primary demand is the resignation of the Education Minister and has called on supporters to gather peacefully in support of the cause.

The organisers are awaiting official approval from authorities before proceeding with the demonstration.
