Bomb Threat Emails Trigger Closure of Three Mohali Schools, Security Tightened

Mohali: A wave of panic spread across Mohali on Tuesday after several schools received bomb threat emails, prompting authorities to shut down three institutions as a precautionary measure. The alerts came shortly after schools reopened in the morning, leading to swift action by school managements and law enforcement agencies.

According to officials, the threatening messages were sent via email, after which school administrations immediately informed the police. Parents were alerted through text messages, and many children who had already reached school were stopped at the gates and sent back home. Police teams rushed to the locations, launched investigations, and enhanced security arrangements on the affected campuses.

As a safety measure, Manav Mangal Smart School, Paragon School, and DAV School in Phase 10 declared a holiday for the day. In some cases, parents who were in the process of dropping off their children were turned away from outside the school premises following police advisories.

The incident in Mohali comes close on the heels of a similar scare in Chandigarh. On January 28, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab, as many as 30 schools in Chandigarh received bomb threat emails. Those messages contained provocative content, including claims linking Chandigarh to Khalistan and demands related to changes in school practices.

At that time, police and bomb disposal squads conducted extensive searches across school premises. No suspicious items were recovered, and the threats were later termed hoaxes. Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the latest emails, while urging the public to remain calm but vigilant.
