Amritsar: Air travel from Punjab is set to become more convenient with the launch of Air India’s ‘Easy Connect’ service at Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport in Amritsar on Tuesday. The new hub-and-spoke connectivity model is expected to simplify domestic and international travel by offering smoother flight connections through major Indian aviation hubs.

The service will be formally inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu at a special event scheduled at the airport. Senior representatives from Air India and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) are also expected to attend the launch ceremony.

The ‘Easy Connect’ initiative has been introduced as part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen India’s international aviation network by improving access from regional airports. Under the new model, passengers flying from Amritsar will be able to connect more efficiently with Air India’s domestic and overseas flights through key transit hubs, reducing travel hassles and improving overall connectivity.

The new service is likely to benefit a wide range of travellers, including members of the Punjabi diaspora, students pursuing education abroad, business professionals, and tourists, by providing greater flexibility in planning onward journeys to destinations across the globe.

Officials believe the initiative will also enhance the strategic importance of Amritsar Airport as a regional aviation hub. Improved connectivity is expected to support tourism, facilitate trade, and encourage economic growth by making the city more accessible to domestic and international visitors.

With the addition of the ‘Easy Connect’ service, passengers from Punjab are expected to enjoy more seamless travel options while strengthening Amritsar’s role in India’s expanding civil aviation network.
