Amethi: A tragic road accident on the Prayagraj-Ayodhya highway claimed the life of an ambulance driver late Tuesday night, after a speeding Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus collided with the vehicle near Piprapur railway station turn.
The deceased has been identified as Izhar (30), a resident of Mumbai, who was driving the ambulance at the time of the incident. The collision occurred when the ambulance was attempting to merge onto the main road and was struck by a bus from the Bahraich depot, en route from Prayagraj to Ayodhya.
According to police officials, Izhar died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. Another individual traveling in the ambulance sustained serious injuries and has been shifted to the Sultanpur District Hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, no passengers on the roadways bus were reported injured in the accident.
Station House Officer of Piprapur, Ramraj Kushwaha, confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem and legal proceedings are currently underway. Authorities are also investigating the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
The accident has once again raised concerns over speeding on key highway routes and the need for stricter traffic enforcement, especially near turning points and intersections.
