Amarnath Yatra Security Gets Digital Shield as Jammu Activates Central Surveillance Hub

Jammu: Security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra have received a major technological boost with the operationalisation of an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Jammu. The newly established facility is expected to play a crucial role in monitoring the annual pilgrimage by enabling real-time coordination among multiple security and civil agencies.

The command centre has been designed as the central monitoring hub for surveillance operations across Jammu city, particularly along the pilgrimage route, transit camps and other strategically important locations connected with the yatra.

Officials said nearly 600 CCTV cameras have been installed at key points throughout the city. These cameras are being monitored round-the-clock by personnel from different security agencies to ensure swift detection of any suspicious movement or security threat.

The integrated system allows officials from the police, security forces and other departments to access live video feeds from a single location, improving coordination and response time during emergencies. Authorities believe the technology-driven approach will strengthen situational awareness and help maintain smooth movement of pilgrims.

Special attention has been given to areas witnessing heavy pilgrim traffic, including registration centres, base camps, major road junctions and other public places. Surveillance teams have also been instructed to maintain constant vigilance throughout the duration of the pilgrimage.

Officials said the enhanced monitoring infrastructure forms part of a broader security strategy aimed at ensuring the safety of devotees visiting the Amarnath cave shrine. Along with physical deployment of security personnel, advanced surveillance technology is expected to improve crowd management and support rapid response in case of any untoward incident.

The annual Amarnath Yatra attracts thousands of pilgrims from across the country, prompting authorities to implement elaborate security arrangements every year. This year’s deployment of an integrated surveillance network marks another step towards strengthening security through the use of modern technology.
