Mumbai: At least three members of the Bajrang Dal were seriously injured after a violent clash broke out between two groups in Mumbai’s Goregaon area during a religious procession, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Dindoshi–Santosh Nagar locality, where a dispute over playing loud devotional music reportedly escalated into a large-scale confrontation. According to police, weapons such as swords and iron rods were used during the violence.
Authorities have arrested 10 individuals in connection with the clash and registered cases under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges related to rioting.
The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment, where their condition was reported to be serious.
In a parallel development, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation initiated demolition of “unauthorized” structures allegedly linked to some of the accused. Officials stated that the action was based on prior complaints regarding illegal constructions.
A heavy police presence has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Authorities said the situation is currently under control.
