New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament, announced a dedicated initiative for sports goods and the launch of the Khelo India Mission, aimed at transforming India’s sports sector over the next decade.

Highlighting India’s potential to become a global hub for high-quality, affordable sports goods, the Finance Minister stated that the new initiative will focus on promoting manufacturing, research, and innovation. The programme will support advancements in equipment design, material sciences, and technological integration, strengthening India’s competitiveness in the global sports market.
