Jaipur: At least twelve people were killed and an equal number injured after a speeding dumper truck collided with several vehicles in a devastating chain crash in Jaipur’s Harmada area on Monday afternoon, officials said.

Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Soni confirmed that the accident occurred near Loha Mandi, where the dumper, reportedly coming from Road No. 14 towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump, struck multiple vehicles over a stretch of nearly 300 metres. “Twelve people died in the accident and as many have been injured,” he said.

Some of the injured victims are in critical condition and have been shifted to the trauma centre of SMS Hospital for advanced treatment.

The dumper, which was unloaded at the time of the crash, lost control and hit vehicles one after another, triggering chaos on the busy stretch. Police teams immediately reached the site, diverted traffic, and began clearing the wrecked vehicles from the highway.

Emergency response teams and local volunteers assisted in rescue operations and helped transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

This marks the second major road tragedy in Rajasthan within two days. On Sunday evening, fifteen people were killed and two others injured when a tempo traveller crashed into a stationary trailer truck in the Phalodi area.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the Jaipur accident, with preliminary reports suggesting overspeeding and driver negligence as possible factors.
