Hardoi: In a devastating road accident on Sunday, a young man and two young girls lost their lives when a truck driving on the wrong side of the road collided with a motorcycle near the Begamganj flyover in the Sandila Kotwali area of Hardoi district.
According to police reports, the incident occurred when a speeding truck, reportedly coming from the opposite direction, struck a motorcycle carrying two minor sisters and their relative. The impact of the collision was so severe that all three sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after being rushed there.
The deceased have been identified as Karan, a resident of Palharai village under Kasimpur police station limits, and his cousins Kajal (10) and Anshika (11), daughters of Pradeep Kumar. Karan was riding the motorcycle, while the two girls were seated behind him.
At the time of the accident, Pradeep Kumar, who hails from Gulharia village in Unnao district’s Behta Mujawar area, was traveling on a separate motorcycle with his wife. The family was reportedly on their way to attend a personal engagement when tragedy struck.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena confirmed that the truck involved in the collision has been seized and the driver taken into custody for questioning. “The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway,” he stated.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting renewed concerns about road safety and reckless driving, especially by heavy vehicles on busy highways and flyovers.
Authorities are expected to review CCTV footage from the vicinity of the flyover to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.
Residents have demanded stricter enforcement of traffic rules and better monitoring to prevent such accidents in the future.
