Etah: A devastating road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district claimed the lives of five individuals and left eleven others injured after a speeding canter truck rammed into a stationary state transport bus. The tragic incident occurred late Thursday night near Keelarmau village along the busy Etah-Aliganj road under the jurisdiction of the Bagwala police station. According to administrative officials, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus belonging to the Etah depot was en route from Farrukhabad to Delhi when it experienced a sudden mechanical breakdown. The driver had pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road to initiate emergency repairs, prompting several passengers to disembark and stand nearby on the shoulder of the highway.

The situation turned fatal when a speeding canter truck approaching from behind lost control and crashed violently into the rear of the stationary bus, crushing the passengers who were waiting outside. Etah District Magistrate Arvind Singh confirmed that four individuals died instantly at the scene of the crash due to the impact. The deceased on-site were identified as Rajesh, Sukhram, Shailesh, and one unidentified male passenger. A fifth victim, whose identity remains unconfirmed, succumbed to critical injuries while undergoing emergency medical treatment at a nearby healthcare facility. Local authorities swiftly dispatched emergency response teams to the site to manage the crisis, secure the area, and transport the casualties.

The eleven injured passengers were rushed to the local government medical college for immediate treatment. The principal of the medical college, Dr. Balveer Singh, stated that medical teams are monitoring the victims and confirmed that the majority of the injured are currently stable and out of danger. Police officials have formally registered a criminal case regarding the incident and have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact sequence of events. The district magistrate noted that a preliminary inquiry strongly points toward excessive speeding and reckless driving by the canter truck driver as the primary cause of the horrific collision.
