Karauli: A tragic accident was reported from Rajasthan’s Karauli district where a private school bus ran over three girls, leaving a five-year-old dead and two others injured.

DSP Todabhim Murlilal Meena said the incident took place around 8 am on Saturday in the Choki Gudachandraji area under Nadoti police station limits. The KBSS private school bus had just dropped children at the school when the driver, allegedly negligent, moved the vehicle forward. At the same time, three girls were crossing the road and came under the bus.

The victims were identified as Riya (5), a Class 1 student, Shanu (7), and Jia (4). Doctors declared Riya dead on arrival, while Shanu was critically injured and referred to Dausa. Jia is currently undergoing treatment at Gudachandraji hospital.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the three girls getting off the bus and attempting to cross the road towards the school when the driver suddenly accelerated.

News of the accident sparked outrage among villagers, who stormed the school and vandalised property in protest. Police intervened to pacify the crowd and assured appropriate legal action, following which the demonstration was called off.
