Bengaluru: A horrific incident unfolded in south Bengaluru on Thursday as a 28-year-old man allegedly strangled his four-month-pregnant wife to death before dying by suicide inside their rented accommodation. The deceased individuals have been identified by the authorities as Manoj Vishwakarma and his wife Sapna, both of whom were natives of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. The tragedy took place at Lakshmappa Garden, which falls within the jurisdictional limits of the Channammanakere Achukattu police station.
According to preliminary police reports, the couple had been married for approximately three years and earned a livelihood working as carpenters. The authorities stated that a heated argument broke out between the two between 11:30 am and noon on the day of the incident. Investigations reveal that the husband utilized a red nylon rope to choke his wife to death and subsequently used the exact same rope to hang himself from the ceiling fan of their room.
The grim discovery was made after fellow occupants of the residential building and the property owners noticed a prolonged lack of response from the house and grew suspicious. They immediately alerted the local police, prompting the Inspector and the Assistant Commissioner of Police to rush to the location. Upon breaching the entrance, law enforcement personnel discovered the bodies inside the apartment. While initial inquiries indicate that the couple quarelled frequently because Manoj had been skipping work regularly over the past few days, police officials stated that the precise underlying cause behind the extreme step will be established following a comprehensive investigation.
