Ranchi— Three people, including two bodyguards of the principal district judge in Jamshedpur, died after their car plunged into Hatia dam on Friday night. One person remains missing, police said on Saturday.

The accident took place under the Nagri police station limits in Ranchi. According to officials, the vehicle was carrying four occupants when it veered off the road and fell into the dam.

Hatia Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pramod Mishra said rescue teams have recovered the bodies of the car’s driver and two police personnel. “One individual is still untraceable. Search efforts are ongoing,” he confirmed.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and crash into the water. The car was travelling from Jamshedpur at the time of the incident, police said.

Authorities have launched further investigation into the cause of the accident.
