SURAJPUR, Chhattisgarh: Authorities in Surajpur, Chhattisgarh, have issued a show-cause notice to the management of a private school after a teacher allegedly attempted to “discipline” a five-year-old kindergarten student by hanging him from a tree using a rope tied to his T-shirt. The incident, which occurred last week in Narayanpur village under the Ramanuj Nagar block, was captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

The video shows the young child dangling from a branch, with a rope fastened to his T-shirt, while two women at the scene can be heard reprimanding the person who was recording the act. Following the clip’s widespread circulation on social media on Monday, Surajpur District Education Officer (DEO) Ajay Mishra immediately dispatched a team to the school.

The woman teacher involved in the shocking incident has been dismissed from service. However, the school director, Subhash Shivhare, attempted to justify the act by claiming the teacher was merely trying to scare the child into studying. Shivhare stated he was not present during the incident but explained that the teacher resorted to the extreme measure because the child was reportedly disturbing the class and hitting other students.

Based on the preliminary report, the DEO has issued a show-cause notice to the school management, demanding a response within two days. Officials confirmed that further action will be taken against the institution according to the rules after the school submits its reply.
