Speeding Car Mows Down Pedestrians in Agra, Five Killed and Two Injured

Agra: A speeding car ran over a group of pedestrians in Agra on Friday night, killing five people and leaving two others injured, police said on Saturday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shesh Mani Upadhyay said that all five victims were declared dead at Sarojini Naidu Medical College after being rushed there in critical condition. The deceased were identified as Babli (33), Bhanu Pratap (25), Kamal (23), Krishna (20), and Bantesh (21). Police confirmed that Bhanu Pratap worked as a parcel delivery agent for a private firm.

The incident took place in the New Agra police station area near Nagla Budhi, close to the Central Hindi Institute. According to eyewitnesses, the car was moving at high speed, struck a road divider, and then veered off course, hitting several people standing by the roadside.

Out of the seven pedestrians hit, five succumbed to their injuries, while Rahul and Golu are currently undergoing treatment, officials said.

Police have arrested the car driver and seized the vehicle. Authorities are investigating whether the driver was intoxicated or driving recklessly at the time of the accident.
