New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is showing steady recovery and is likely to be discharged from hospital within the next one to two days, doctors said on Friday.

The 79-year-old was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Tuesday night after developing a fever. According to hospital authorities, her condition has improved significantly since admission.

Hospital chairman Ajay Swaroop said Gandhi is “much better” and recovering smoothly. He noted that she is comfortable, walking around, and has resumed normal activities such as having breakfast.

Doctors attending to her confirmed that she is being treated for a systemic infection and is responding well to antibiotics. A team of senior medical specialists continues to monitor her condition closely.

Sources indicated that while her health is stable and not serious, she may remain under observation briefly as a precaution before being discharged.
