SRINAGAR (J&K) – Seven personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured on Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2026, after their bulletproof bunker vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a water canal in the Dagpora area of Srinagar.

The accident occurred on the Umar Hayer–Dagpora Road in the Ahmed Nagar locality. According to official reports, the driver of the bulletproof (BP) vehicle lost control of the heavy machinery, causing it to skid off the road and plunge into the adjacent canal.

Rescue and Medical Update

Following the accident, local authorities and fellow security personnel launched an immediate rescue operation to extricate the trapped jawans from the submerged vehicle. All seven injured soldiers were rushed to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura for emergency treatment.

The injured personnel have been identified as:

  • Naginder Singh (36)

  • Ajit Kumar Ram (36)

  • Raj Kishore Rai (40)

  • Amit Kumar Yadav (38)

  • Rajdhan Ram (55)

  • Mankar Kumar (40)

  • Neeraj Kumar (45)

Hospital officials confirmed that while the soldiers sustained multiple injuries during the impact, their conditions are currently stable and they are receiving specialized care.

Investigation into the Mishap

Preliminary reports suggest that the narrow stretch of the Umar Hayer–Dagpora Road may have contributed to the driver losing control of the bulky armored vehicle. Senior CRPF officials visited the site and the hospital to monitor the situation. A formal inquiry has been initiated to determine if the crash was caused by a mechanical failure or difficult road conditions.
