Assam: The investigation into the death of Assam’s beloved cultural icon Zubeen Garg is nearing its final stage, with the charge sheet scheduled to be filed on December 12, a senior police official said on Saturday. Garg died on September 19 while swimming in the sea in Singapore, triggering widespread grief across Assam and beyond.

Special Director General of Police (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta, who heads the Special Investigation Team (SIT), said during a press conference that the inquiry has reached its concluding phase. “The investigation is almost complete. The details will be given in the charge sheet,” he said.

Gupta confirmed that seven people have been arrested so far and more than 300 witnesses have been examined during the extensive probe. He declined to disclose additional information, stating that further details will become public once the charge sheet is submitted.
