New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday praised India’s decisive response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir, highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor and the nation’s growing self-reliance in defence.
In her address to the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day, the President condemned the “cowardly and utterly inhuman” killing of innocent citizens and said India’s armed forces had displayed “strategic clarity and technical capability” by dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the border.
Calling Operation Sindoor a landmark in the global fight against terrorism, Murmu said the military’s “steely resolve” destroyed multiple terror hubs, sending a strong message worldwide. “I believe Operation Sindoor will go down in history as an example in humanity’s fight against terrorism,” she declared.
The President underlined that India’s unity was the most powerful response to those attempting to divide the country. She pointed to cross-party delegations of MPs who engaged with foreign nations to explain India’s stance on terrorism, reflecting collective resolve.
Murmu stressed that India’s position was clear: the country would never be the aggressor but would not hesitate to defend its people. She also framed Operation Sindoor as a demonstration of the success of the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission in defence.
“Our indigenous manufacturing has now reached a critical level, making us self-sufficient in meeting many of our security needs. These are landmark achievements in India’s defence history since Independence,” she said.
