Patna: Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Monday launched a sharp attack on Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, accusing him of evading trial in a decades-old murder case by “falsely” claiming to be a minor before the Supreme Court.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Kishor alleged that Choudhary’s affidavit, filed in 2020 during his election to the legislative council, contradicted his earlier stand before the apex court. He demanded Choudhary’s immediate removal from office and announced plans to seek an appointment with the Governor on Tuesday to press for action.
Choudhary, who was the Bihar BJP president and now handles key portfolios including finance in the Nitish Kumar-led government, was unavailable for comment. Kishor warned Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP that failure to act against their ally would “expose them before the people.”
The Jan Suraaj leader further alleged that Choudhary had faced trial in connection with the murder of six people in Tarapur, Munger district, in 1995. He also rejected BJP leaders’ claims that his party was being funded through “shell companies,” asserting that all funds came from his past political consultancy work.
“I have used the money not for personal gain but to build a political alternative in Bihar, and I have paid GST on it,” Kishor clarified.
