Mandsaur: Madhya Pradesh Police seized a massive consignment of brown sugar valued between 20 and 40 crore rupees in the Mandsaur district on Sunday, resulting in the arrest of five suspected interstate smugglers, including a woman. One additional suspect managed to evade law enforcement and currently remains at large. Mandsaur Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Meena confirmed the major narcotics bust during a formal press conference later that evening.

The high-stakes operation was executed by a specialized team from the New Abadi police station following a precise intelligence tip-off regarding a bulk drug shipment moving through the district. Acting swiftly on the information, police personnel intercepted and thoroughly searched two targeted four-wheelers, uncovering 20 kilograms of contraband hidden within the vehicles. Superintendent Meena explained that the financial value of the seized brown sugar hinges heavily on upcoming laboratory purity tests, noting that it could command up to 40 crore rupees on the illicit international market if established to be of superior quality, while even inferior grades would fetch a minimum of 20 crore rupees.

In addition to the bulk narcotics, law enforcement officially confiscated the two four-wheelers used to ferry the consignment, along with seven high-end mobile phones valued at approximately 2.5 lakh rupees. Investigators noted that no liquid cash was recovered from the suspects during the initial physical searches. Initial interrogations revealed that the arrested individuals belong to a sophisticated syndicate heavily involved in the interstate trafficking of narcotic substances across central and western India. A comprehensive financial and operational investigation is actively underway to map out the network’s local suppliers, end-point buyers, and digital monetary trails.

The police formally identified the five detained suspects as Hemant Verma and Mona Sen, both residents of Indore, alongside Rahul Meena, Subhash alias Pintu Nahar, and Jitendra alias Karu Meena, who all hail from the Pratapgarh district in neighbouring Rajasthan. Law enforcement teams have launched coordinated raids to apprehend the absconding suspect, identified as Aziz alias Ejaz, also a resident of Pratapgarh. A criminal case has been formally registered under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the New Abadi police station, and the Superintendent announced that the operational team would be recommended for official gallantry rewards.
