New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a national programme marking Veer Bal Diwas here on Friday, during which he will also interact with recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said Veer Bal Diwas is observed to honour the supreme sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh’s younger sons, Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. He said the day is dedicated to courage, faith and righteousness, while also remembering the steadfast resolve of Mata Gujri Ji and the timeless teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Modi said the ideals and lives of the Sahibzades would continue to inspire generations.
The Centre is organising a series of programmes across the country to spread awareness about the bravery and martyrdom of the Sahibzades and to recognise the valour of young heroes in Indian history. These activities include storytelling sessions, poetry recitations, poster-making and essay-writing competitions, which are being held in schools, Anganwadi centres, childcare institutions and through digital platforms such as MyGov and My Bharat.
Veer Bal Diwas has been observed annually on December 26 since 2022, following the Prime Minister’s announcement to commemorate the martyrdom of the Sahibzades and keep their legacy alive in the national consciousness.
Meanwhile, BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin, along with senior party leaders, visited Bangla Sahib Gurdwara to offer prayers on the occasion.
