Barmer, Rajasthan— A 24-year-old Pakistani national was detained on Wednesday after villagers discovered him hiding inside a cattle shed near the International Border in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, police said.

Barmer Superintendent of Police Narendra Meena identified the man as Hindal, a resident of Nayatala village in Pakistan’s Mithi area. He is suspected to have crossed the border fencing under the cover of darkness and managed to move nearly 200 metres inside Indian territory before being spotted.

Villagers noticed the intruder inside a cow shed located close to the border and immediately alerted the Border Security Force (BSF). Troops reached the location, apprehended him, and conducted preliminary questioning. Police confirmed that no suspicious items were recovered from his possession.

Following the initial interrogation, the BSF handed Hindal over to the Sedwa police station for further investigation.

Security agencies are now examining the possible infiltration route, including the specific border pillar he may have crossed. Officials are also analysing footprints and other evidence to trace his exact path. The motive behind his entry and the circumstances that led him to cross into India remain under investigation.
