New Delhi: Pakistan’s military on Tuesday criticised an Indian documentary covering Operation Sindoor, accusing its makers of presenting a one-sided version of the conflict while failing to reflect what it described as the realities on the ground.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, issued a statement in response to Discovery’s two-part docuseries Declassified: Operation Sindoor. It described the documentary as a “highly dramatised” portrayal of the events, alleging that the narrative had been presented from India’s preferred perspective.
The Pakistani military also challenged the documentary’s portrayal of Operation Sindoor as a successful military campaign for India. The series features accounts from senior Indian political and military figures who discuss the events surrounding the conflict.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who appears in the documentary, spoke about India’s response to the security threat and said the country’s restraint and tolerance should not be interpreted as weakness. He asserted that India was prepared to take risks and respond forcefully when required.
Doval also outlined the stated objective of Operation Sindoor, saying the military action was intended to target terror infrastructure, particularly facilities linked to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.
Four-Day Military Confrontation
Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7 last year, when Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes against multiple sites described by India as terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The strikes triggered a sharp military confrontation between India and Pakistan, with the two nuclear-armed neighbours engaged in hostilities for nearly four days.
The fighting ended after India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10, bringing the immediate military confrontation to an end.
The latest exchange over the documentary highlights the continuing divergence between the two countries over their accounts of the events surrounding Operation Sindoor, with both sides maintaining sharply different narratives about the conflict and its outcome.
