Ballia: Sixteen people, including the organiser of a ‘Jal Pari’ show at Ballia’s Dadri Mela, have been booked for allegedly killing a 50-year-old advocate following a dispute at the ticket counter, police said on Wednesday. The victim, identified as advocate Praveen Kumar Singha, collapsed after being assaulted on Sunday and later died from his injuries.

An FIR was lodged late Tuesday night at the Ballia City Kotwali Police Station under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, naming show organiser Himanshu Dixit and 15 unidentified individuals.

According to the complaint, Praveen had visited the Dadri Mela with his family on November 23. When he approached the ticket counter for the ‘Jal Pari’ show, he was allegedly denied the correct change. After he objected, the staff reportedly abused and beat him. Praveen collapsed during the assault and was later declared dead.

Ballia City Circle Officer Mohammad Usman said the case is under detailed investigation and further action will follow based on the findings.
