New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three additional accused in connection with the IED explosion at the Nalagarh Police Station in Himachal Pradesh, taking the total number of people arrested in the case to six.
The blast took place at around 9:40 am on January 1, 2026, near the outer wall adjoining the room of the Investigating Officer at Nalagarh police station.
The case was initially registered as FIR No. 02/2026 at Nalagarh Police Station. The investigation was subsequently transferred to the NIA, which re-registered the case on May 8, 2026, as RC-27/2026/NIA/DLI under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Three More Arrests Made
According to the NIA, its investigation has established the alleged involvement of three additional accused — Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandola, a resident of Mohalla Sirhindhiya, Rahon in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district; Karanpartap, from Mohalla Rota, Rahon; and Diljot Saini, a resident of Jhansi Park Colony, Nawanshahr Road, Rahon.
All three were arrested by the NIA in the present case. They were already in custody in connection with FIR No. 11/2026, registered at Rahon Police Station in Punjab.
Six Accused Now in NIA Custody
The latest arrests follow the agency’s earlier action against three other accused — Mahavir Kumar alias Kaka, Ajay Mehra and Manpreet Singh alias Mani.
These three had initially been arrested by Punjab Police in connection with FIR No. 02/2026 of SSOC, Mohali, before subsequently being arrested by the NIA in the Nalagarh case.
With the addition of the three latest arrests, six accused have now been arrested by the NIA in connection with the IED blast.
Probe Focuses on Wider Conspiracy
The agency said the arrests form part of its continuing investigation into the suspected conspiracy behind the attack. Investigators are examining the alleged roles of those arrested and working to identify other individuals who may have been associated with the wider network.
The NIA is also looking into possible links between the accused and the broader conspiracy, with investigators seeking to establish how the network operated and determine the full extent of its involvement in the Nalagarh incident.
Further investigation remains underway.
