NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Maharashtra After Re-Exam Results; Police Launch Probe

Ahilyanagar: A 19-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district a day after the results of the NEET re-examination were declared. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Ankita Sangale, a resident of Jalalpur village in Karjat. According to the Maharashtra Police, Ankita had secured 166 marks in the NEET re-examination.

Officials said she was found dead on Sunday. After receiving information, the Karjat police reached the spot and carried out the necessary legal formalities before registering a case of suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

Police have not disclosed the exact circumstances that may have led to the incident. Investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including speaking to family members and reviewing available evidence to establish whether academic pressure or any other factors contributed to the tragedy.

Authorities have appealed to the public not to speculate about the cause of death until the investigation is complete.

The incident comes amid nationwide discussions surrounding the NEET examination process and the emotional pressure faced by aspirants preparing for highly competitive entrance tests. Experts have repeatedly stressed the importance of providing students with emotional support and timely access to mental health resources during periods of academic stress.

Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
