New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday described the National Democratic Alliance’s impressive performance in the Bihar Assembly elections as a clear endorsement of the state’s push toward development. He said the voters had decisively rejected “jungle raj” and appeasement-driven politics.
In a statement on X, Shah said the mandate reflected people’s growing confidence in performance-based governance and reaffirmed their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He also applauded BJP and NDA workers for their efforts throughout the campaign.
“This victory belongs to every Bihari who believes in a ‘Developed Bihar.’ Those who rely on jungle-raj or appeasement—no matter their disguise—will no longer get the chance to loot. Today, people vote solely on performance,” Shah wrote.
Congratulating the NDA leadership, he added, “I congratulate Shri @narendramodi, Shri @NitishKumar, and all NDA leaders and workers. I also thank the karyakartas of @BJP4Bihar, from booth to state level, whose hard work turned this mandate into reality.”
Shah assured voters, especially women, that the NDA would honour their trust with stronger commitment. “I assure the people of Bihar—and particularly our mothers and sisters—that the NDA government under Modi ji will work with even more dedication,” he said.
The NDA is on track to set a major benchmark in the 2025 Bihar polls, crossing the 195-seat mark as per the latest trends. The alliance’s strong performance is driven by the combined strength of the BJP and JD(U), backed by Chirag Paswan’s LJP(RV) and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
Bihar recorded a historic 67.13% voter turnout this election—the highest since 1951. Women outvoted men significantly, recording 71.6% participation compared to 62.8% among male voters.
According to the Election Commission, the BJP has so far secured 19 seats, JD(U) 10, LJP(RV) 1 and HAM 1. The RJD has won 4 seats, Congress 1, and AIMIM 2.
